In the FasterLap Web Experience, why do I need to start by entering a location?

All the information in FasterLap is geo-coded and can be sorted/arranged by its distance from the location you enter. This allows you to find relevant information for your track events. Think of how you search using Google Maps: you start by typing in your street address or your destination address and then you can search for things nearby, and see their distance from the location you entered. You can then click on these point of interest and learn more about them.

FasterLap search works the same way: you enter in an address into FasterLap and it displays a list of search results from the FasterLap database. Unlike Google, FasterLap only contains track/driving-related information. This information is moderated and maintained to ensure the highest quality of data. Because this information is displayed based on a location, it minimizes the number of individual searches required to find what you are looking for.

For example: A FasterLap member lives in Boston and is planning to go to a track event at VIR in Danville, VA. He can use FasterLap to see all future motorsports events within a 50 mile radius of Danville. He can read reviews for the different car clubs hosting events to decide which event to sign up for. He can see all the highest rated local information (tuner shops, driver coaching programs, hotels, restaurants, gas stations, hang out spots, etc.) added by the FasterLap community within this radius. He can easily plan his trip to Danville and find the best hotel and best restaurants once he gets there. He sees an ad for a local, reputable shop in Danville where he can get his track inspection done and tires changed before the event. He can also find a local, reputable shop in Boston to get his oil and tires changed after the event.

I want to find a list of track events happening closest to my house (so I don't have to drive too far). What location should I enter to get started?

Enter your home address to see what is nearby and read the ratings that other FasterLap users have submitted. Also, submit your own review for local businesses near you. If you know of one that is not on FasterLap, submit it!

I want to find a list of track events happening at a specific track, not necessarily near me. What location should I enter to get started?

There are couple ways of going about this. You can view the of tracks in the track tab, and then select the one you want, and set that track as your location. Or, you can type in the street address, or partial address of the track you want. Once the location is set to the track you want, go to the events tab to see a list of upcoming events for that track, and their ratings.

I need to know where to stay, where to eat, and where to get supplies for an upcoming event. What location should I enter to get started?

It's best to enter the name of the track you are going to. Then, go to the listings tab to see the hotels, restaurants, and businesses closest to the track and their ratings, so you won't waste time driving to and from the track.

Does FasterLap have mobile experiences (aka mobile apps)? If so, are they free?

Yes, Android, BlackBerry, and iPhone Mobile Experiences are coming soon. They will cost a nominal fee.

Is there a forum or blog section on FasterLap where I can communicate with other users?

Nope, we do not have a forum or blog for discussion. FasterLap is not a website, blog or forum. It is focused on providing high quality, reliable information for planning out your track season, and maximizing your track budget. The goal is to spend less time online and more time at the track.

Can I save a list of the events I've attended this season? Can I save a "favorites list" of my favorite tracks, events, hotels, restaurants, stores, etc?

No, not yet. But in the future we plan to launch "My FasterLap" which will allow you to do this, and more.
